Scrapbooking Memories Aussie Blog Hop with Imaginarium :) :) :)

Hello Hello :)

Haaaaaaappy Australia Day! I do hope you are having a wonderful Day!

Are you enjoying the Scrapbooking Memories blog hop so far?? :) :) :)

I am currently on a plane jetting my way back to Australia, but I wasn't letting that stop me from having a little creative fun, and I cant pass up the opportunity to share with you my love of Imaginarium Designs.

Today I thought I would share with you something slightly different :)! As most of you are probably aware I love to use a combination of wet mixed mediums to create my own layout backgrounds.

In the beginning [early 2010] I was experimenting, trying to find what worked best as a background for multiple applications of wet mediums; as card stock wasn't 'cutting the mustard' sts :) Im not a fan of the bumpy buckled look.  So I progressed onto a thicker card, I started using the backs of paper pads and the extra lining card that came in patterned paper packs to protect them.

Here is an example of a layout that I created using this card, but as you can see it still looks warped; and that was after only light coats of gesso and mist.

I still wasn't happy with this warping of my backgrounds. So when I joined the amazing Imaginarium Designs team I asked Jane [the amazing owner/designer of Imaginarium Designs] if it were possible to purchase the chipboard sheets that she was cutting the chipboard from, as this seemed sturdier than what I was using. I originally started with a thinner ply 1.2ml, but when I started to get more 'in to' using wet mediums to create my own backgrounds I soon progressed to the 1.7ml grey board [as I call it lol] :)

What I can do to this grey board and still have it thin enough to fit into an album sleeve, with minimal warping, is just amazing. Ill upload some examples of what I mean.

This has applications of; spray gesso and Tattered Angels mist with an extra spray of water

With this grey board i first squirted on some watered down gesso, and when that was dry I absolutely drenced the whole of the background with Tattered Angels chalkboard mist.

When I was preparing this layout background I applied 3 layers of paint and gesso, and as you can see its not warping :)

Here is a pic of a layout being created by one of the awesome ladies who attended workshop that I did last year, it gives you an idea how well this Imaginarium Designs Grey Board background withstands moisture.

When creating this layout background it had 2 applications each of; misted water, Tattered Angels chalkboard mist, and gesso! ......are you getting the idea as to why I think the Imaginarium Designs grey board backgrounds are so fabulous??!!! :)

It doesn't even buckle under pressure when handled by awesome Tim Holtz for an autograph, unlike some ladies I saw go weak at the knee's LOL :)

So that is enough babbling from me LOL :) Imaginarium Designs chipboard not only caters to the scrapper and card maker, but also to the arty types, and the OTP creatives!!

So I will leave you with a couple of my fave layouts, using the Imaginarium Designs grey board backgrounds, where I have used multiple applications of mediums to create my own backgrounds.

Well that is it for me, I do so hope you are inspired by and enjoying the Scrapbooking Memories Blog Hop.

Cheers and Happy Scrapping,

Louise :) xox

I've always wondered how you got so much wonderful medium onto the board with no warping- I've tried several widths of board and nothing seems to work. In any case thank you for sharing this step by step- it's fantastic and I'm pinning this for future research. I REALLY wish you had classes available via the internet- I would sign up for every single one!!! I just got some clear crackle medium after seeing your video for Creative Jump start- still working on the spray gesso though- I'm sure it's available I just have to find it. Thank you for all the inspiration!!!
